Rangers’ need for a forward has just increased after Youssef Chermiti’s injury, which came just hours after they rejected a £22m offer for their striker from Galatasaray.
Some reports have claimed that the former Everton man suffered an ACL injury against Hibernian and that would be an almighty blow for Derek McInnes following a tough start already.
Whether that has directly influenced Rangers’ chase to sign Driouech remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt that the PSV man would be an excellent replacement.
At 24 years old, the forward is entering his prime years and could hit his full potential by swapping the Netherlands for Scotland. From his perspective, more game time would come as a relief.
At PSV last season, Driouech started just five games in the Eredivisie, playing a total of 946 minutes. The fact that he still managed to impress in that time highlights the potential player that Rangers could be signing.
Rangers on the brink of agreement to sign Driouech
The Gers look to be closing in on their next signing. Football FanCast sources understand that Rangers are on the verge of agreeing a deal to sign Driouech, with a club-to-club agreement all but done. Ibrox chiefs are now nearing an agreement with the forward’s representatives and are willing to make him one of their highest paid players, while the forward himself wants to move in search of regular first-team minutes.
Reports have claimed that the 24-year-old is set to cost the Gers around €8m (£7m), which would make him one of the most expensive signings in Rangers’ history.

Despite a poor start to life at Ibrox, the 49ers are still clearly backing McInnes to turn things around. The arrival of Driouech could go a long way towards completing that turnaround, especially after Chermiti’s injury.
The big question is now when the forward could arrive. Those at Ibrox still need to work out the finer details on personal terms, even with a huge contract offer prepared. As soon as they have the green light on that front, then they could finalise their move and welcome yet another impressive signing.
