Arsenal bid to sign “highly-rated” versatile midfielder from under Man Utd’s nose

Arsenal have already strengthened Mikel Arteta‘s title-winning squad with several senior additions this summer, but the Gunners are also looking to bolster their ranks for the future with the best young talent around.

The Premier League champions have signed Piero Hincapie on a permanent deal following his loan spell, brought in goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer and spent £34m on Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis.

And last week, the Gunners completed the headline acquisition of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United for around £75m.

However, Andrea Berta’s recruitment drive isn’t exclusively focused on players capable of immediately strengthening Arteta’s starting XI, leading them to Louis Page.

Those at the Emirates were competing for the highly-rated Leicester City winger earlier this summer, only for Manchester City to win the race for the 17-year-old in a deal worth around £12.5m.

Since then, Arsenal have been making progress in their pursuit of Crystal Palace youngster Divine Bernard and have also bid for Page.

Arsenal make offer for Louis Page

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Arsenal have submitted an offer to sign Leicester City midfielder Louis Page. However, there is considerable competition for the teenager’s services.

Manchester United are actively working on a deal for Page, who is keen on a move to Old Trafford, whereas Aston Villa are also showing interest.

Therefore, Arsenal have another battle on their hands with a Manchester club for a highly-rated Leicester gem, and right now, they could miss out again after Monga.

Page turned 18 in July and has been with Leicester since Under-9 level.

He made his senior debut in the League Cup against Huddersfield Town in August 2025 and has gone on to make more than 20 senior appearances for the Foxes.

In fact, he was named the EFL Apprentice of the Year last season, an award picked up by Jude Bellingham during his time with Birmingham City in 2019/20.

Page’s positional flexibility could also see him go from strength to strength in the Premier League. Leicester City expert Callum Boyle said that Page, “technically speaking, is very gifted and operates best as a no.8 or in the no.10 role”, meaning he could be viewed as a long-term replacement for Martin Odegaard, should he continue to excel at a rapid pace.

After spending on the likes of Tzolis and Guimaraes to help Arsenal in their bid to defend their Premier League crown, Berta appears equally determined to ensure the club are recruiting for what comes next.
