Liverpool hold talks with La Liga star’s agents this week and say they’ll bid

Liverpool’s transfer plans have attracted renewed attention this week, with several names being discussed as possible additions for Andoni Iraola.

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott remains firmly in the rumour mill after Fabrizio Romano again identified him as a player admired at Anfield.

Monaco’s Lamine Camara is also on Liverpool’s radar, according to Romano’s update on Monday, although the timing of any midfield signing remains uncertain.

Scott would be familiar to Iraola from their time together on the south coast, while Camara offers another option as Liverpool assess that department.

There has been movement around a potential defensive target, too.

Flashscore’s Dean Jones reported this week that Liverpool are watching Malo Gusto’s position at Chelsea, where discussions with his representatives are taking place.

Chelsea are assessing possible replacements, but Jones stressed that the club are still considering their options rather than pushing the defender out.

Liverpool’s search for attacking talent has now produced another intriguing name, with Valencia youngster David Otorbi at the centre of a fresh report from Spain.

Tribuna Deportiva claims Liverpool told Valencia and Otorbi’s representatives this week that they are prepared to meet his £25 million release clause.

However, the Spanish club are said to have responded by changing the terms of a possible departure.

According to the outlet, Valencia activated an existing three-year extension option and increased the clause to £50 million.

The reported extension would take Otorbi’s contract from 2028 to 2031, giving Valencia greater control over his future, but this has yet to be officially announced or confirmed by the club.

Sport Witness says Valencia used their extension option before Otorbi had fully satisfied the conditions that would automatically activate it.

His agent had previously outlined an automatic extension after 10 appearances of at least 45 minutes, meaning Valencia were already planning to protect the winger’s future.

Otorbi turned 19 last week and has developed through Valencia’s academy since joining in 2019.

The locally born winger has Nigerian family roots and has represented Spain at youth level. His senior debut came against Cartagena in January 2024, when he became Valencia’s youngest player to appear in an official first-team match.

He generally operates on the right and remains an emerging talent, with much of his football last season coming for Valencia Mestalla.

Liverpool already have a connection with the Spanish club through Harvey Elliott’s loan, which has given their staff reason to follow events at Mestalla closely.

Otorbi’s agent, Nacho Gallart, said earlier this month that clubs from England had been in contact, while emphasising the importance of continuing his progress at Valencia.
