Tottenham in talks with Real Madrid to sign player on loan after De Zerbi request
Tottenham return to Premier League action when they host Coventry City on Monday night, knowing the pressure to secure a first win is growing.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side showed welcome fight in their 1-1 draw at Man United last weekend, with Spurs trailing and down to 10 men following Rodrigo Bentancur’s dismissal, but Dominic Solanke rescued a point with a late header.
That result moved Tottenham off the bottom, although they remain 19th with only three points from six games.
More concerningly, Spurs have scored just three league goals despite investing heavily in their attack during the summer.
Monday’s visitors will therefore arrive in north London with genuine belief.
Coventry are 14th after collecting six points and have suddenly found momentum under Frank Lampard.

Their 1-0 victory at Nottingham Forest was followed by an outstanding 4-1 win over Newcastle, meaning the promoted side are now chasing a third straight league win.
Tottenham have spent this week at a training camp in Marbella, where De Zerbi has focused on improving relationships within his heavily changed squad.
Bentancur will be suspended, but Spurs must build on the spirit shown at Old Trafford and finally turn possession into goals.
Spurs have won all five of their last five encounters with Coventry, but the long gap between most of the fixtures means history should offer little comfort against Lampard’s confident team.
The need for greater quality in front of goal also feeds directly into Tottenham’s plans for January.
Tottenham in Endrick loan talks after De Zerbi makes striker request
Mundo Deportivo reports that De Zerbi has asked the club to sign another striker, with Real Madrid forward Endrick emerging as a possible answer.
The Spanish newspaper suggests Spurs have opened discussions with the Spanish giants over a loan deal, and if those talks succeed, Endrick could be handed the regular football that has often been difficult to find in Madrid.
The Brazilian is a natural centre forward who can also move across the attack, and he remains one of the most highly rated young players in Europe.
The 20-year-old has already experienced a spell away from Madrid, spending the second half of last season on a successful loan at Lyon before returning to the Spanish capital.
Endrick bagged 16 goal contributions in just 21 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, and while his chances under Mourinho have been harder to come by, taking him away from the Bernabeu may not be straightforward.
Endrick came off the bench against Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday, scoring Madrid’s equaliser and was named player of the match.
That performance could strengthen his case for more opportunities in Spain, but it could also persuade Tottenham that he is exactly the type of sharp, fearless finisher their attack currently lacks.
Solanke remains De Zerbi’s clearest orthodox number nine, while Omar Marmoush and Mathys Tel provide different qualities, yet the team’s total of three league goals explains why the head coach reportedly wants another option.
Spurs spent more than £300 million rebuilding the squad during the summer, but their results have fallen well below expectations.
Mundo Deportivo adds that the Lewis family recently provided a further £120 million capital injection, potentially giving the club room to act again.
