ποΈ At the 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Aston Martin teammates Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll found themselves running together in P6 and P7. On Lap 5 in Baku, Stroll was right behind Alonso and within DRS range as the two Aston Martin F1 drivers battled to keep pace with the cars ahead.
π» Rather than fight his teammate and potentially cost both Aston Martins valuable time, Lance Stroll came over the team radio with a clear message: βFernando, I will not attack, we are both playing the same game.β Stroll’s message was then relayed to Fernando Alonso by his race engineer.
π Alonso’s response was classic Fernando. After being told that Stroll wouldn’t attack him, the two-time Formula 1 World Champion jokingly replied that his teammate was welcome to have a go! A brilliant F1 team radio moment between Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll during the 2023 F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku.
