Newcastle hold talks to sign ‘next Jude Bellingham’ ahead of Real Madrid
January is creeping closer, and Newcastle‘s transfer business is already giving supporters plenty to chew over.
Newcastle’s rumored preparations for January transfer window
One name doing the rounds this week is Celta Vigo defender Javi Rodríguez, who can operate in the middle of the back line or on the right.
TEAMtalk reported on Monday that Newcastle remain interested after making enquiries during the summer, but PSG are also watching the 23-year-old, adding another heavyweight to the mix.
Celta will take some shifting, as a Wednesday update from Sport Witness, citing Galicia Press, said the Spanish club want to keep him through January.
His contract runs until 2030 and carries a £34m release clause.
Further up the pitch, Antonio Nusa continues to be linked with St James’ Park after Newcastle were keen in the summer.
The sting is the price, as Leipzig are reportedly looking for £70m, with a summer move considered more likely than an exit this winter. That would make the Norway international an expensive player to prise away, even before the competition is considered.
There is also an important decision brewing over Tino Livramento, with Arsenal and Man City both reportedly interested, but a sale has been raised as a summer 2027 possibility if contract talks fail to progress.
Newcastle have more to think about than simply adding bodies in January, but they have already asked about a teenager attracting attention far beyond England.
Newcastle open preliminary talks to sign Leicester sensation Louis Page
According to TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey, Newcastle have made an enquiry for Leicester City midfielder Louis Page, opening preliminary talks over his signature.
The 18-year-old has been branded the ‘the next Jude Bellingham’, with Real Madrid among the clubs to have watched him, while Barcelona are also keeping tabs.
Man United remain confident after going close to a deal in the summer, while Brighton and Brentford have also asked about Page.

Leicester are prepared to consider a January sale, but want a total package approaching £15m and a loan that would keep him at the King Power Stadium until the campaign finishes.
His contract does not expire until 2029, so the Foxes can afford to be firm.
Louis Page making headlines at Leicester
That reputation gained another boost on Friday, when he opened his senior goalscoring account in Leicester’s 4–2 FA Cup victory at Oxford City, and he also set up two more goals.
Page has now made 36 competitive first team appearances, having only made his debut in August 2025. There is already plenty of football behind the hype, even if he is still learning his trade.
Bellingham comparisons are a big burden for any young midfielder, but Newcastle’s interest is very understandable.
For Newcastle, the loan request would mean waiting for any benefit on the pitch, but they could secure a very exciting player now and allow him to keep playing regularly.
An enquiry has put them in the conversation, but the next test is whether they are prepared to meet Leicester’s terms and compete against clubs with obvious pull.
