During his three years in Germany, Kane has been one of Europe’s leading talismen, subsequently netting 146 goals in just 147 games for Vincent Kompany’s outfit.

The 2025/26 tally of 64 goals in 56 appearances was the best return of his professional career, with the experienced forward still able to deliver the goods despite being 33.

Like Rooney, he’s gained a reputation for also being able to deliver in the Premier League, with his tally of 213 goals leading to England colleague Luke Shaw describing him as “the best striker in the world” in recent years.

Such a record has seen him score the most goals for a single club in the Premier League, which could see him fire Carrick’s men within touching distance of title glory upon any move.

Kane has netted five times against the Red Devils in the Premier League, which could see the United faithful finally backing the Englishman rather than being on the wrong end of his impressive strikes.

Any deal could likely cost Carrick’s men a pretty penny this summer, but it could be worth it if the forward is able to replicate his recent goalscoring exploits.

He has huge boots to fill given the impact of Rooney at Old Trafford, but the Englishman has showcased he’s arguably a better finisher than the fan-favourite in England’s top-flight.
