Why Austin Breaks F1 Cars #f1 #cota #f12026 #formula1

COTA was built on marshland, and the ground under it never stops moving. That’s why Austin is one of the bumpiest tracks on the F1 calendar. Max Verstappen once said it was “better suited to a rally car.”

Turn 1 alone is a 133 ft (≈40 m) climb straight up a hill.

In 2023 those bumps cost Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. Their planks under the car wore below the 9 mm limit by just a few tenths of a millimetre, and both were disqualified. Lewis lost P2.

On 25 October, the same track could crown Kimi Antonelli as F1’s youngest ever world champion.
