Tottenham eyeing shock move for £60,000-a-week star who De Zerbi called “fantastic”
Tottenham Hotspur have identified Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez as a surprise target, with the goalkeeper being put up for sale after Emiliano Martinez’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.
Roberto De Zerbi‘s side have made a very poor start to the Premier League campaign, losing their opening two matches, which suggests they may need to make some additions before the deadline, but they will have to move swiftly, with the transfer window set to end on Tuesday at 11pm.
Tottenham are yet to score a goal, while they have also been very poor from a defensive point of view, conceding five times, with Antonin Kinsky not exactly making a flying start to life as Tottenham’s first-choice goalkeeper following Guglielmo Vicario’s loan move to Juventus.

The 23-year-old has made just 15 career appearances in the Premier League, whereas the 6 foot 6 Sanchez has made 171, and he is a goalkeeper De Zerbi knows well, as they spent time working together at Brighton & Hove Albion.
The former Brighton boss has previously been full of praise for the Spaniard too, saying: “Robert is a fantastic goalkeeper. He can make mistakes for sure, it’s not a problem. I make more mistakes than him, for this it is not a problem for me.”
However, it would be a gamble for Spurs to sign the 28-year-old as a replacement for Kinsky, as he is known to be error-prone, and he was replaced by Martinez at Chelsea after making a mistake leading to a goal in the 3-2 victory against Fulham.

Despite Sanchez making a poor start to the campaign, Tottenham are now considering a shock move for the Chelsea goalkeeper, as the Blues have decided to put him up for sale, after signing Martinez from Aston Villa.
That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, which states Spurs are still considering whether they need to make additions in a number of key areas, having lost their first two Premier League matches without even scoring a goal.
Intermediaries are working to find the £60,000-a-week goalkeeper a new club, but in truth, Spurs should probably avoid making a move, as the three-cap Spain international has a history of making key mistakes.
