Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are both now in contention to sign Club Brugge star Nicolo Tresoldi, as their search for a new striker continues.
Roberto De Zerbi‘s side have set out to bring in a new centre-forward, with Dominic Solanke struggling to make the desired impact in the Premier League last season, scoring just three goals in 15 appearances.
The hunt for a striker has led them to Folarin Balogun, with talks recently being opened, but Tresoldi could be an exciting alternative option, considering he scored 25 goals for Club Brugge in all competitions last season, while also grabbing nine assists.
Como scout Ben Mattinson has lauded the 21-year-old for his “excellent positioning” and “instincts in the penalty area”, while also stating he is a “pacy” player, who would suit playing as part of a front two.
However, considering De Zerbi prefers to utilise a 4-2-3-1 formation, the Cagliari-born striker may have to lead the line alone if he does arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Albeit in the Belgian Pro League, the Club Brugge marksman averaged 0.68 goals per 90 last season, which suggests he could be up to the task of playing as a lone striker, and Premier League clubs are now queuing up to secure his signature.

According to a report from Caught Offside, Tottenham and Chelsea are now racing to sign Tresoldi, with Manchester United and Barcelona also among his potential suitors. Club Brugge could demand around €50m (£43m) for the 24-cap Germany U21 international.
Chelsea are prepared to offload the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap to create space for his arrival, but Spurs will not give up without a fight and could offload one of their own in the shape of Richarlison, who has been strongly linked with a £40m exit throughout the summer.

Xabi Alonso’s side have already brought in Danny Welbeck this summer, but the ex-Brighton man is now 35-years-old, and Tresoldi could be a more fitting long-term addition to the squad. |
Tresoldi and Balogun aren’t the only strikers of interest to Tottenham, with it being revealed they also submitted a £55m bid for Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen last week.
However, the Turkish side are said to be holding out for £64m, which means they may need to increase their offer if they are going to get a deal over the line.
The Nigerian has been prolific in front of goal ever since his arrival in Turkey, chipping in with 59 goals and 16 assists in 74 games for Galatasaray, and at 27-years-old he is much more experienced than Tresoldi.
