Peter Odemwingie warns Sky Sports, West Brom and QPR as he considers legal action over this failed transfer on deadline day in 2013.
He took to his social media to speak of the truth regarding how that infamous situation all played out, saying there was a lot more to that interview.
A year ago he spoke of dodgy agents, goalposts being moved and Roy Hodgson making sabotaging phone calls, now Odemwingie had explained more of his side to the story.
He captioned a video post: “So earlier this year @officialqpr auctioned the shirt they prepared for my arrival in January 2013 and it was in their office for 12/13 years.
“@skysportsfootball @skysports agents and employees of both clubs @wba @officialqpr definitely have questions to answer and I will be seeing a lawyer next week to make it official.
“From simply a human side of it @skysportsfootball what is the motive/ intention to show this episode on and on for so many years? The least will be lack or absence of respect in my opinion. Maybe they don’t like that I am half Nigerian 🇳🇬 and half Russian 🇷🇺? I can only guess. Could be something else. Who really knows. God knows for sure and one day I will find out more.

In the first video, five days ago, he said: “Deadline day, transfer talks and everything. You know, till today, although I’ve already given few interviews in the past, I have made posts on former Twitter, Instagram, I’ve put this thing out. Some people still comment like, yeah, what happened that day?
“You know, the problem about this whole story is nobody is interested in the truth. They just wanna be distracted.
“Sky Sports milked this situation for so many years. I think it’s just wickedness really, if you look at it. And here is the problem. You know, they’re not stupid, right? They know what the transfer is like, how complicated it can be, especially swap deal.
“On the very day this thing happened, Dharmesh [Sheth] and his friend who was the agent, Barry McIntosh, they were working together to try and make this thing happen.
“The first time they said, ‘Let’s do a Sky interview on deadline day,’ I was in my car driving down and the agent called me and said, ‘Let’s go to Sky Studios.’
“I said, ‘For what?’ And he said, ‘West Brom is making things difficult.’ I said, ‘That’s stupid, that’s childish and I’ll never go in front of a camera on purpose.’
“We then parked up and I called West Brom. Dan Ashworth tried to reach them and text them, but we got no reply. So, we waited for two hours around the corner around the corner, just like Harry Redknapp said.
“He should have waited in a hotel or in a restaurant. We did. Barry McIntosh, says to me, oh, no, it’s all sorted. It’s all sorted. So his car was in front of mine. We drove, we’re driving. I don’t even know where we’re going to the training ground or to the state. I’ve never been there before. If I even played against QPR, I just arrive on the bus and walk into the dressing room. They park right by the right by the doors always. So we’re driving and I’m following this guy, he parks up, then I have to pull up and then the cameras come. And then obviously whatever I knew the moment I know. B
“But then, West Brom also misbehaved that day, saying it was a conditional decision and that Hoilett had to go the other way for the deal to happen.
“There was no such condition given and they misbehaved. Then Ashworth called West Brom chairman Richard Garlick.
“Shame on them, shame on Sky and the agents. Sky never wanted to interview the agent. He had direct links with Sky.
“Dharmesh was interviewed by Roman and Evan Evans of World in Motion, because none of them gave any account of what happened”.

“We have to address another issue. Why did I wanna leave West Brom for a smaller club, maybe? Queens Park Rangers at that time? That was already six months before that. I wanted out. And there are a few reasons.
“Because when players hold a meeting, that not everybody is present, let’s say the bigger players of the squad, but few, and they hold a meeting accusing me that I said something that offended them. While it was the same words their manager Roy Hodgson at that time said publicly. The worst thing is I never said that.
“So briefly the story, we lost 2-0 away at Everton. We had like a heated exchange of words, me and Ben Foster and during that conversation somebody said apparently I said if not for me, we would have relegated last season. But I never said that. I was saying to Foster about his team in Birmingham City.
“So anyway, they were offended that I basically said what Roy Hodgson has already publicly said. And it’s Roy Hodgson himself calling for a meeting for me to apologise for those words. That’s crazy, right?
“I should apologise basically for what he said publicly. But that’s the scary part about it. I never even said that. Somebody misheard it or misinterpreted it. Whatever.
“Anyway, being in that dressing room was not an option anymore for me. It was never the same. So unfortunately, as much as I love the club, the fans, they sang so much to me, loved me till today. But at that time that’s not what I was ready to deal with.
“So yeah, here are a few articles where Roy had a go at me. They pushed me to even try and defend myself publicly over an injury. I don’t know, you can call that abuse to be fair and manipulation or whatever.
“But here are a few West Brom fans who knew this was never gonna end well. Read the comments for yourselves and… they were right.”

He said in the video: “I need to get this monkey off my back, as they say. I will remove all these posts once this whole situation is sorted. Dharmesh has written me on WhatsApp asking like if I want to come to the studio and talk about it more or whatever.
“He didn’t mean any harm in any way ever. I understand that I said, but it doesn’t change the situation. Damage is done and we all have to deal with it. And the only thing is I want everyone to own up to their actions. And I will be expecting apologies.
“Possibly compensation as some people already wrote under my post because in this world nothing is for free. They’ve been milking this situation for many years. I will get something out of it. There’s no question about it.
“They made a son of two doctors educated people guy who won Olympic medal, African Cup medals, been transferred from different countries, full on international player, an adult. They made me look like some kid that just turned up somewhere, scary this world.
“There’s a price to it for everything. So stay tuned as my friend Nathan said, stay tuned. We’ll see how this whole story ends.
“And I am way smarter than they think. So that’s why it’s hard to take, you know, they painted an old block turning up at some football club as if he’s forced, asking for a contract.
“Like, even Google Pixel offered me 50 grand this January to come to London for just a few hours to film something about switching phones, like they want people to switch to Google Pixel. I was thinking about it. I said, what’s the offer? They go 50 thousand, they kept going… then they say 50. I said, no, it’s 50 million. They runaway.”
A final post on it, he wrote: “This is actually how disgusting the story looks like and is. British press likes to talk so let them have something to talk about and let’s see which of them have any dignity that reported on this previously. In the video, he said: “Alright, so the general perception of me was that I was so desperate to get the QPR money because they were giving out the contracts that January. So I was motivated by greed and like just to get my money.
“But you know what? I was going to QPR for smaller contract than I had in West Brom. It was never about money in the first place. Right?
“But then I was even going for less money. That changes the story, right? Dan Ashworth knew the figures because he had an insider on the other side. And there is one that keeps me curious.
“You know, when I was back in West Brom, Richard Garlick then, who was the lawyer stroke sport director, that makes them two, right? Which is not usual. He said to me these words, let’s embarrass the clubs and make the deal happen.
“So he heard someone say those words. I never heard those words. How and from where he heard those words, only he knows. So somebody there heard maybe Barry McIntosh speaking with Harry [Redknapp] when he was saying I’m going to just do this interview and it’s possible Harry Redknapp gave him the green light because here’s the question Sky’s failed to ask. How will an agent dare to do that?
“You see, this whole story, it just opens up by just one simple question. How dare the agent allow that to happen? And there were two of them with me that day. You know why nobody sued anyone? Because they were all at fault.
Peter then shows a clip of then West Brom boss Steve Clarke in a press conference. The headline is Clarke: Misunderstanding in Odemwingie camp.”
Journalist asked Steve Clarke: “So in your mind, you just think he wanted to move. So he just drove down there hoping that it would come off, West Brom would say, oh, go on then?”
Steve responded: “Listen, in some stage yesterday, the deal was close to happening. I think that’s obvious.”
Peter continued to say: “Both sides, the agents. The agent actually said when the window was closed, Barry said he will submit his license to the FA the next morning when I said to him, let’s go at least for some food. He said he has somewhere to go. He has drama with his missus or whatever and left.
“Then Eddie just said, yeah, he will also go home. So I had a lonely drive back home. And on my way back is when this another agent, how he got my number? I don’t know. Rob Segal calls me, goes, I knew the deal was not gonna happen.
“And then later he said he has a good relationship with West Brom’s chairman that he would like to be my agent.
“So after that, I interviewed a few and I thought, yeah, I’ll give this guy a chance. So he did my move to Cardiff, which was another story to tell.
“He was on Sky Sports in the afternoon of the deadline day saying deal is done. Both sides are happy. But the deal wasn’t done, mine was the last one to go through in the system because they wanted me to sign some documents and pay the fines which they wanted me to pay from the January’s actions.
“I refused to pay any fine and I never paid a penny to West Brom for anything to do with QPR. When I refused, I called the PFA. I said they need to investigate this, but because they knew I had a case, they didn’t want to investigate.
“West Brom just shoved that under the table and said we will revisit it in the summer. Throughout the whole summer, they didn’t revisit the situation because they had no leg to stand on.
“But the moment I was about to transform the last deadline day. They throw those two fines on the table that I have to pay.
“I said, I’m not paying. Even if that means I have to come back to West Brom, I’m coming back. So the deal wasn’t done. The agent was panicking all afternoon, all evening. Then I turned my phones off. This time I turned my phone off.
“The former PFA chairman was trying to call me. I don’t answer no one. They got to me through my family pleading that I should just move on. Let’s all just move on from this situation.
“Last minute, I just said, I undertake to one document, but it’s a stupid like gagging order that doesn’t even make any sense. But I refused to pay the fines. The agent that did the deal to Cardiff said he will pay it, he will pay it to make sure he avoids the embarrassment I had on Sky Sports.
“And imagine he who was classed as a super agent, he was already on Sky. We watched it in the afternoon. Deal is done, everybody happy. Nothing was done.
“And the FA actually confirmed that a few seconds late, the deal wouldn’t have gone through in the system. It was literally last seconds for it to go through. That’s another story.
“Story plenty but listen, I’m calling a few people out because I will sort the situation out. Life is long and many are sitting there not comfortable.
“So I leave it to you guys to decide who said those words. Let’s embarrass the clubs and make the deal happen, Richard Garlick knew those words. I don’t know. But if he knew, why didn’t he never say it to the press, to the fans?
“That could have cleared my name, right? He never did, because he don’t care.”
