Newcastle have submitted a bid for Tottenham star Lucas Bergvall, with Spurs giving a swift reply.

Bergvall is still only 20 but has already packed plenty into a short career.
After breaking into Brommapojkarna’s first team as a teenager, he established himself at Djurgårdens before earning a move to Tottenham in 2024 despite strong interest from Barcelona.
Since arriving in north London, he has gone on to make 78 senior appearances for Spurs, scoring twice and providing nine assists, while also becoming a Sweden international with 14 senior caps.
Those numbers do not immediately jump off the page, but Bergvall has never been signed for goals.
He is a central midfielder whose biggest strengths are keeping possession, driving his team up the pitch and controlling games.
Bergvall is comfortable receiving the ball under pressure, can play as a number six or number eight and already has experience in the Premier League, European competition and international football despite his age.
Spurs fought off elite competition to sign him, have tied him down to a long-term contract until 2031 and have repeatedly rejected sizeable offers this summer, most notably from Nottingham Forest.
If Newcastle genuinely believe Bergvall can become one of the cornerstones of their next generation, then a big-money bid makes sense, and that belief has now been reflected in their latest move.
