MUNA’s Tour Bus Catches Fire on California Freeway

MUNA’s “Gets So Hot Tour” got a little too literal on Monday morning, when the band’s tour bus caught fire while traveling on the 5 Freeway in Burbank, California. Everyone aboard escaped safely, though the band says several personal belongings were lost in the blaze.
The California Highway Patrol received a call around 8:20 a.m. reporting a bus on fire on the southbound freeway. According to KTLA, the driver was at first unaware of the flames before eventually pulling over just beyond the Buena Vista Street off-ramp. Passengers swiftly evacuated, and the Burbank Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported. The rear of the bus appeared heavily damaged, and the cause of the fire remains unclear.
MUNA later confirmed on Instagram that it was, in fact, their bus seen in local news footage. “the band MUNA as seen on the news this morning,” they wrote. “many personal items were lost but we’re all safe, thank goodness”.
