Everyone is calling Mercedes’ 2026 Formula 1 season “domination.” But is it really?
Yes, Mercedes have been extremely competitive this season. Their performance deserves recognition. But when we talk about true Formula 1 domination, there is one season that immediately comes to mind — 2023 Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen.
In this video, we take a look back at what happened in 2023 and why that Red Bull season became one of the most dominant campaigns in modern F1 history.
Max Verstappen didn’t just win races — he completely changed the benchmark for consistency and performance. Across the 2023 season, Verstappen won 19 of the 22 Grands Prix, setting a new record for most wins by a driver in a single F1 season. Red Bull Racing won 21 of the 22 races, with their only defeat coming at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Verstappen also went on an incredible 10-race winning streak, breaking the previous record and establishing an extraordinary level of consistency.
And that’s why the word “domination” deserves some context.
There is a difference between being the strongest team on the grid, consistently fighting for victories, and producing a season where one driver and one team are operating on an entirely different level from the rest of Formula 1.
This video isn’t about taking anything away from Mercedes. It’s about putting the word domination into perspective.
