Matchday – Awaydays: LIVE* – Fan Banter

Some awaydays start with a ticket. These ones start with an alarm clock. Fleetwood supporters heading to Exeter face an estimated 285 miles each way, Plymouth’s trip to Cambridge is around 265 miles, and Newcastle fans travelling to Crystal Palace on Sunday have roughly 300 miles ahead of them. That is a fair amount of motorway before anyone gets near a turnstile. We are following the weekend’s journeys from the first coach departure to the last trip home: the service-station stops, the away ends and the stories that make all those miles worthwhile.
There is plenty riding on the football at the other end, too. Our pre-weekend tables put Cambridge fourth and Plymouth fifth in League One, separated by a single point: a long journey with a useful prize waiting at the finish. At the other end of that division, Bromley and Peterborough also begin the weekend one point apart, in 23rd and 21st respectively. One meeting has the upper places in view; the other offers a chance to gain ground near the bottom. The league positions are the saved preview picture, rather than a live table.
Not everybody needs to pack for an expedition. Tottenham’s visit to Chelsea and Accrington Stanley’s trip to Rochdale are both around 20 road miles in our estimates. Fewer miles, though, does not mean there is any less to say. Whether you are crossing the country or making a short hop, show us how your awayday is going: the coach, the train, the food stop, the view from the stands or the journey back.
