Maluma says fatherhood has changed the way he approaches his career, with the Colombian singer revealing that he no longer places the same expectations on his music as he prepares to become a father for the second time.
“I don’t have expectations for anything I do anymore,” Maluma told Billboard. “I’m making music because I love creating art.”
The shift also extends to how he views his priorities. Speaking separately to People, Maluma said his family now comes first and described his current approach to life by saying, “I’m not doing a sprint anymore.”

That perspective has coincided with a period of reflection in his music. Maluma said his latest album, Loco X Volver, was partly inspired by a desire to reconnect with his childhood, explaining that he was “dying to literally go back to that kid.” The album artwork features a childhood photo of the singer.
Maluma released Loco X Volver, his seventh studio album, in May. He recently announced a world tour spanning 2027 and 2028 to support the album, marking his first major global trek since the “Don Juan World Tour.”
