After fending off an immediate return to the Championship last season, it was vital Leeds United spent big to try make themselves an established force in the Premier League.
Daniel Farke’s men spent over £90m during the recent summer window and entered the market with a real impetus to invest in quality over quantity to reach the next level.
The likes of Tarik Muharemovic and James Trafford both arrived at Elland Road, hoping to secure their places as regular starters under the German boss in 2026/27.
Both will be hoping that they can adhere themselves to the supporters, just as one player did during his own time in the Whites’ senior ranks.
Why Leeds are crying out for another Summerville
Farke’s decision to change to a 3-4-2-1 system at Leeds has undoubtedly allowed the club to become a much tougher proposition to break down – as seen by the unbeaten start to the 2026/27 campaign.
However, they are still crying out for an elite-level option within attacking areas – something which Crysencio Summerville would have offered had he remained in Yorkshire.
The Dutchman arrived as a teenager from Feyenoord back in April 2021, with the forward originally linking up with the club’s academy before impressing in the first team.
The 2023/24 campaign was where he had his biggest breakthrough, as the 24-year-old scored 20 times and registered nine assists in England’s second tier for the Whites.
Such a year was undoubtedly the best of his professional career, but it wasn’t enough to secure the club promotion – resulting in a £25m deal to join West Ham United in the Premier League.
He’s since caught the eye for the Hammers in the Premier League and joined Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal for a reported £60m during the recent summer window.

Such a move comes after he scored twice and laid on two assists for the Netherlands at the World Cup, which has no doubt cemented his place as an elite attacker in the present day.
Why Farke already has the next Summerville on the bench at Leeds
In 2026/27, Leeds have already made a tremendous start, with the Whites currently sitting in the top six of the division after avoid defeat in all five of the recent encounters.
The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Brenden Aaronson and Noah Okafor have all been key starters in recent weeks and played a key role in their success in attacking areas.

The youngster has clocked the fastest ever top speed for a player in the Bundesliga with his 37km/h run last term mirroring the electric nature of Summerville at Elland Road.
His direct nature was further evident in his impressive dribbles completed tally, with the attacker registering 2.8 successful take-ons per 90 – ranking him in the top 6% of all forwards in Europe.
He often put the end product on his mazy runs in Germany, subsequently ending the 2025/26 campaign with seven combined goals and assists in just 15 league starts.
Both of the aforementioned figures were higher than those produced by the former Whites attacking star, which highlights the talent they currently have on their hands.
His pace and quality in attacking areas is similar to that of the Dutchman, who captured the hearts of the fans in Yorkshire, with Bahoya able to do the same in the near future.
However, he is in desperate need of added minutes in the senior ranks if he is to succeed, with Farke the only man who can unlock the attacker’s quality and allow him to emulate Summerville’s success.
