Conor Gallagher offered shock Tottenham exit route as Besiktas table proposal

Roberto De Zerbi was the first to admit that Tottenham Hotspur‘s transfer business is far from done during their pre-season tour, and a fair amount of that business could revolve around player sales.

The Lilywhites have already spent around £200m on impressive reinforcements, but still need to show the door to a number of want-away players.

That includes club captain Cristian Romero, of course, and could also include Conor Gallagher. The attacking midfielder, who only arrived in January, may be heading for the exit door just six months later.

Tottenham’s potential departures 26/27

Potential next club

Why they could leave

Cristian Romero

Atlético Madrid / Inter Milan

Spurs are preparing for his departure, with Atlético currently the strongest possibility. His importance means any exit would likely require a significant fee, but the club appears open to rebuilding the defence.

Guglielmo Vicario

Juventus / Inter Milan / Napoli

His position has become less secure and Spurs have another goalkeeper emerging, potentially making him available this summer. Interest from Serie A could tempt both player and club.

Djed Spence

Inter Milan / AC Milan / Premier League club

Spence is reportedly open to leaving and has attracted interest after establishing himself as a versatile full-back. Spurs could cash in while his value is high.

Lucas Bergvall

Undisclosed

The midfielder’s long-term future is uncertain due to competition for places. A move could be considered if Spurs believe regular first-team football would benefit his development.

Richarlison

Saudi Pro League / European club

Spurs are reshaping their attacking options and his contract situation could encourage the club to consider offers. His profile and wages could attract interest.

Manor Solomon

West Ham / Fiorentina

Spurs are willing to sell after several loan spells. A permanent move would allow Solomon to secure regular first-team football.

Conor Gallagher

Beşiktaş

Gallagher has struggled to establish himself as a key player since arriving at Tottenham and could leave in search of regular football. Beşiktaş are exploring a move for the midfielder, with Spurs potentially open to a departure as they reshape their midfield options.

It would be some rebuild if Spurs managed to offload all of those players and it should come as no shock that Gallagher is among those who could be shown the exit door. He’s endured a difficult six months in North London.

According to Sözcü Gazetesi in Turkey, as relayed by Sport Witness, Besiktas have launched a ‘surprise’ loan offer to sign Gallagher from Tottenham just six months after he arrived from Atletico Madrid, as manager Vincenzo Italiano is a big fan.

The attacking midfielder, who was tasked with driving Spurs forward from the centre of the park in the second half of last season, only arrived for around £35m in January, but struggled to make his mark at a difficult time for the Lilywhites. Now, he could be among those sacrificed as quickly as he arrived, as Spurs aim to usher in a new more successful era under De Zerbi.

It would be a damning moment for the Englishman, who has gone from a triumphant Premier League return as a player who seemed to thrive in La Liga to the potential of a swift exit once again.

As for Spurs, they’ll be looking back at January’s £35m deal with plenty of regret if they cannot either find a place for him in De Zerbi’s plans or shift him for a significant fee.
