Chelsea now considering move for £42m Champions League striker with 32 G/A last season
Chelsea were without Joao Pedro against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, with the centre-forward ruled out due to injury, and it would be fair to say they felt his absence, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side emerging as 2-0 winners at Stamford Bridge.
When asked about the extent of Pedro’s set-back after the match, manager Xabi Alonso said: “We don’t know yet because he has a lot of fluid. He felt it yesterday and we need to wait probably until tomorrow to do the test and to know the whole situation and the whole seriousness of the injury. We will know soon enough.”
The Blues could do with the Brazilian returning sooner rather than later, given that he has been one of their most important players since signing from Brighton last summer, picking up 28 goals and 12 assists in 60 appearances across all competitions.
With Pedro ruled out, Alonso opted to give Morgan Rogers the nod as a false-nine, rather than handing Danny Welbeck a start, and the former Aston Villa man struggled to make an impact, recording an xG of just 0.06 and failing to complete a single dribble.

As such, the west Londoners may need to reinforce their attack by bringing in a dependable back-up option for Pedro, and they are now looking to sign a striker who has been impressing in the Champions League.
Chelsea planning move for Nicolo Tresoldi
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Chelsea are now planning a move for Club Brugge star Nicolo Tresoldi, who has been valued at £42m, but there could be competition in the race for his signature, as Premier League rivals Manchester City have also emerged as potential suitors.
Scouts from both clubs are set to watch Tresoldi in action against St Truiden in the Belgian Pro League, a competition in which he has four goals to his name this season, but some of his best performances have came in the Champions League.
Indeed, the German has been putting on a show in Europe, picking up four goals in three matches, and he bagged a hat-trick in Club Brugge’s surprise 4-3 victory against Inter Milan earlier this month, after which the centre-forward received plaudits from journalist Michael Oti Adjei.
A regular source of goals and assists, the 22-year-old amassed a whopping 32 goal involvements in all competitions during the 2025-26 campaign, and he could now be ready to take the next step in his career by signing for one of the Premier League’s top clubs.
