Leclerc Had a HEART ATTACK Over This Radio π
ποΈ During qualifying for the 2023 United States Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), Max Verstappen snatched provisional pole position from Charles Leclerc by just 0.005 seconds in the final moments of Q3. Leclerc was on his cooldown lap when he discovered that Verstappen had beaten his lap time, prompting a frustrated reaction over team radio: βFor fck sake, for fck sake!β π
π© But the drama wasn’t over! Verstappen had exceeded track limits at Turn 19 during his flying lap, and the FIA deleted his lap time. This dropped the Red Bull driver down to P5 on the qualifying results, handing Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc pole position for the 2023 United States Grand Prix.
π The funniest moment came when Leclerc’s race engineer informed him that a lap time had been deleted, without immediately mentioning Verstappen’s name. For a brief moment, Leclerc thought his own pole lap had been deleted! His panicked response was priceless: βFor f*ck sake, tell me the name before! Oh my God!β Once his engineer clarified that it was Verstappen’s lap, Leclerc admitted: βYeah, well, I had a heart attack in the meantime.β
