🏎️ Max Verstappen and George Russell went wheel-to-wheel on Lap 1 of the 2023 Azerbaijan Grand Prix Sprint in Baku. Russell attacked Verstappen for P3 into Turn 2, with the two making contact and Russell’s Mercedes damaging the sidepod of Verstappen’s Red Bull before taking the position.
😤 Verstappen was frustrated that Russell was allowed to keep P3 after the contact, telling Red Bull over team radio that he could also make overtakes by hitting another driver’s car. Just a few laps later, Max got his opportunity to fight back following the Safety Car restart.
🔥 On Lap 5, Verstappen immediately attacked Russell and reclaimed P3 into Turn 1 — this time without any contact. Race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase (GP) couldn’t resist pointing it out over the radio: “Lovely job Max, without contact as well, nicely done.” Verstappen’s fired-up response made the moment even better.
