West Ham United‘s attacking rebuild is beginning to gather pace as they prepare for the challenge of securing an immediate return to the Premier League.
The Hammers have already moved to address the loss of Crysencio Summerville, agreeing a deal for Manor Solomon from Tottenham Hotspur.
Losing Summerville represented a significant blow for West Ham, with the winger departing after establishing himself as one of the Irons’ biggest attacking threats. However, there is an interesting point involving the Dutchman which should give the Hammers some encouragement.
When Leeds United sold Summerville to West Ham in 2024, they were forced to rebuild their attack ahead of another Championship promotion challenge and brought in Solomon on loan.
Rather than allowing Summerville’s departure to derail their ambitions, Daniel Farke’s side went on to accumulate 100 points in 2024/25, winning the Championship title with Solomon playing a big part, producing 10 goals and 12 assists.
West Ham will now hope to repeat that trick, but replacing Summerville is only part of the rebuild, and West Ham’s attention is now turning towards finding a new centre-forward for Solomon to supply.
Troy Parrott has emerged as one of the Hammers’ leading centre-forward targets in recent weeks.
The Republic of Ireland international enjoyed an outstanding campaign for AZ Alkmaar last season, establishing himself as the Dutch club’s leading goalscorer.

Now, West Ham have made their move.
West Ham make offer for Parrott
According to The Daily Mail, the Hammers have submitted an opening offer understood to be worth around £15m for Parrott, who started on the bench for AZ’s opening league fixture against Den Haag on Saturday amid growing speculation surrounding his future.
However, £15m may only be the beginning. West Ham are reportedly prepared to exceed the Championship transfer record of more than £17.5m – Ipswich Town’s move for Sindre Walle Egeli in 2025 – to secure the striker.
It would represent a considerable investment by those at the London Stadium, and Parrott could rival Taty Castellanos under Nuno Espirito Santo.
Parrott has developed into a complete centre-forward in Alkmaar, capable of dropping away from the defensive line to combine with teammates before attacking the penalty area.
Called “a clever player” who is “technically really good” by Shelbourne’s JJ Lunney, he is also approaching the prime years of his career while already possessing some experience of English football, making a deal a no-brainer both in the second-tier, and then hopefully, Parrott can also star back in the Premier League for the Hammers.
Looking at the numbers, Parrott produced 20 league goals last season, more than double Castellanos’ eight, and reached 23 direct goal contributions. That’s the sort of clinical finishing West Ham will need if they are to dominate the Championship, and following news of a bid, this is a deal to keep a close eye on over the coming days.
