The best strikers in the Premier League (2026/27)

The Premier League has an illustrious history of great strikers, perhaps the best in modern times.

From all-time record goalscorer Alan Shearer, to current England skipper Harry Kane and the legendary Thierry Henry, it doesn’t get much better than that.

However, the great Erling Haaland is looking to break all of those records and cement himself as the best forward we’ve ever seen in English top-flight history.

The Norwegian isn’t quite there yet, but he’s trying his best to put himself at the top of the pedestal. That said, he is certainly the best in English football right now.

Who’s rivalling him? Well, we’ve put together a list of the best strikers in the Premier League for the 2026/27 season.

Alexander Isak – Liverpool

The saga of the 2025 summer transfer window saw Alexander Isak belatedly get his grand move to Liverpool in a British record £125m deal. While he is still one of the best strikers in European football on his day, his stock has fallen considerably since then.

He’s barely kicked a ball since moving to Anfield due to a lack of fitness and a mid-season leg break, scoring only three league goals across 2025/26.

And yet, there were signs of life with four goals and assists at the World Cup for Sweden, with it certainly not time to write off a player who scored 54 league goals in his three seasons at Newcastle United.

Kai Havertz – Arsenal

Another player who has been through injury hell over the last year, Havertz has become one of the finest centre-forwards in the land after moving to Arsenal.

An attacking midfielder by trade, Mikel Arteta has transformed him into a really menacing attacking proposition, as he showed with his thumping opener in May’s Champions League final. Arsenal are spoilt for choice with him and Viktor Gyokeres up top.

Jean-Philippe Mateta – Crystal Palace

Jean-Philippe Mateta has been the centre of everything good about Crystal Palace for so long, even shaking off a failed January move to AC Milan to help steer the Eagles to Conference League glory.

He’s proven to be one of the division’s best for a number of years now, scoring 19 times in 2023/24 and on 17 occasions in 2024/25, prior to netting 12 league goals last time out.

Benjamin Sesko – Manchester United

The Slovenian endured a slow beginning to life at Old Trafford but has come alive under the stewardship of Michael Carrick, even while still waiting to become a regular starter.

Lethal in 2026 so far, Sesko ended his debut campaign in Manchester with 12 goals in all competitions, 11 of which came in the Premier League, having ranked fourth in the division in terms of goals per 90.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Leeds

After leaving Everton behind and signing for Leeds on a free transfer last summer, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been a man reborn at Elland Road, even while missing out on England’s World Cup squad.

He only scored ten league goals across his final two campaigns at Goodison Park but comfortably eclipsed that tally with 14 in 2025/26.

Viktor Gyokeres – Arsenal

Like Sesko, Gyokeres endured a really sticky time of it during the opening half of the season, but he came to life in 2026.

The Swede didn’t exactly power the Gunners to the title, although 14 league goals and 21 in all competitions makes for strong reading.

Yes, he won’t be winning any awards for style, but substance is all that matters as the champions seek to defend their crown.

Igor Thiago – Brentford

Undoubtedly the biggest surprise package of the 2025/26 campaign, Igor Thiago was sensational for Keith Andrews’ Brentford.

The Bees lost Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo last summer, but the pair have not been missed, largely due to the exploits of Thiago.

Only Haaland scored more Premier League goals last term than the Brazilian, as he hit 22 in the top-flight to book a World Cup place.

Joao Pedro – Chelsea

Speaking of Brazil, Joao Pedro was arguably the best striker signing in the division last season, even while missing out on Carlo Ancelotti’s squad to Thiago.

He has been in extraordinarily good form in 2026 so far, most notably scoring a hat-trick against Aston Villa at the start of March, ending the campaign with 15 league goals in all.

He leads the line brilliantly but is also capable of playing slightly deeper. He’s the complete package, not just scoring goals but also providing for his teammates. This was a brilliant signing by the transfer chiefs at Stamford Bridge.

Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa

Aston Villa’s Mr Consistent, Ollie Watkins has long been a force to be reckoned with at Premier League level, following his move from Brentford back in 2020.

Across his six-year stint at Villa Park, the Englishman has hit double figures for league goals in every season, including netting 15 or above in each of the last four.

Could this be the time he finally breaks the 20-goal mark?

Erling Haaland – Manchester City

Who else? There is no one better than Haaland in Premier League football right now, with his freakish form almost going under the radar despite netting 27 times in 2025/26.

The former Borussia Dortmund man may even be the best goalscorer we’ve seen on these shores, a point only reinforced by a stunning summer for surprise package Norway in North America.

The Pep Guardiola era is over at the Etihad, but the age of Erling Haaland might have only just begun…
