Nottingham Forest plotting move to sign Everton’s Beto

Nottingham Forest are ready to spring into action in the summer transfer window. The Tricky Trees are working on deals to sign Ousmane Diomande as well as Givairo Read and are now turning their attention towards Everton’s Beto.

The forward hasn’t always been in favour at the Merseyside club, but Thierno Barry’s struggles left David Moyes with no choice but to trust his man last season.

With Chris Wood entering the final year of his contract at the City Ground, those in the Midlands would be wise to welcome his eventual successor. Whether that arrives in the form of 6’4 Beto is the big question.

There will be plenty of natural concerns when Wood bows out at Forest. At his best in the 2024/25 season, the Tricky Trees had a 20-goal striker to rely on, before injury disrupted his last campaign.

To say that Beto is not a 20-goal striker would be an understatement. He scored just nine times for Everton last season. Alas, the towering striker isn’t all about goals.

The threat that he can provide has been clear to see against some of the best centre-backs. The Everton man gave Virgil Van Dijk plenty of trouble in the 24/25 season and also scored against the Reds in the last campaign.

At 28 years old, Beto’s presence can hand Forest some added depth in their frontline and a player capable of changing a game from the bench. Even if he isn’t necessarily their replacement for Wood, it’s a deal worth exploring.

Nottingham Forest plotting Beto move

According to the Daily Mail’s Simon Jones, Nottingham Forest are plotting a move to sign Beto from Everton this summer. The forward has entered their radar as they look to boost their frontline.

It remains to be seen if Everton will be willing to sell the 28-year-old. They were forced to hand Beto back his starting place when Barry failed to find his form last season.

Since then, however, links with the likes of Dusan Vlahovic suggests the Toffees are attempting to land an upgrade of their own in attack – perhaps opening the door for Forest.

Beto isn’t the only name on Forest’s radar. Fabrizio Romano reported earlier this week that Forest have submitted another offer to sign Read from Feyenoord.

The young fullback can play both sides and could replicate the success that Daniel Munoz had under Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace. All parties are yet to reach an agreement, but a second bid worth around £17m suggests things could suddenly move in the right direction.
