Arsene Wenger: Blame me for Arsenal failures

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has taken full responsibility for the team's failings this season, following a 2-1 loss at Bolton yesterday (April 24th).

The defeat at the Reebok Stadium all but ended Arsenal's title hopes and they now sit in third place, nine points behind Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester United and trailing Chelsea by three.

Bolton snagged a late goal thanks to Tamir Cohen and Frenchman Wenger told the BBC it was "difficult to swallow" the way the game ended.

The London side had numerous chances they never took, he added.

"The week we just had sums up our season: a lot of quality in our game but not enough reward for the effort we produced."

Wenger also said it was he, not the team, who was to blame.

Meanwhile, the 61-year-old is optimistic midfielder Samir Nasri will stay at the club beyond the final year of his current contract.

He told the official Premier League website talks were ongoing with the French player.
