Beckham Olympics bid

David Beckham says he wants to play his part in helping Britain clinch gold at the Olympics.

The former England captain said he still didn't know what his role would be, but he has heard rumours that he could be "managing, coaching and playing".

Beckham said he would "like to be involved in some way... playing would be a bonus".

He has already played a big role by helping secure London's 2012 bid.

The Los Angeles Galaxy star also said it would be "an amazing occasion to have such a big sporting event in the East End of London."

Beckham grew up in Chingford on London's border with Essex.
