Barcelona cemented their place at the top of club football with a 4-0 victory in the FIFA World Club Cup Championships. The Spanish and European champions lined up against Brazilian side Santos in Sundays final in Japan. Barcelona wasted little time in putting Santos to the sword, Lionel Messi started the rout on 17 minutes and two more goals followed from Xavi and Fabregas. Messi rounded off the win with the games fourth goal as Santos were left chasing shadows.

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola was now won an incredible 13 titles out of a possible 16 with the Catalan giants, but his biggest challenge still lies ahead with Real Madrid pushing Barcelona all the way in this seasons La Liga.

“The team’s trophy cabinet is starting to match up with the Club’s history,” said Barcelona President Sandra Rosell “This is probably the best football team in memory. It’s extraordinary how they play, how they pass the ball, how they defend… it’s gorgeous. We must enjoy the moment” gushed Rosell.
