Praful Patel wins AFC election

President of All India Football Federation (AIFF) Praful M Patel was elected on Thursday as the member at the Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) executive committee from South Central zone region.

Patel, who is also India's aviation minister, received 26 votes at the hustings of the AFC Congress.

Patel, who earlier refused to contest at the vice-president level, thanked the nations, which supported the India's candidature in the Asian highest level football governing body.

The AIFF executive committee members, football fraternity and various state association have extended their congratulations to Patel on his election.
