Ora - Oxford Circus, London

A few minutes’ stroll from the mayhem of Oxford Circus, this Thai newcomer aims to turn on the style in W1 with sleek good looks & an all-embracing menu. Fronted by a head chef from pack leader Busaba Eathai, the kitchen knows all about cooking for the West-End crowds – although the food will mix traditional staples & family recipes with more contemporary specialities. Look for taub yeng (grilled foie gras with homemade dip & herb salad) or meunh kaum (a jumble of roasted coconut with pomelo, peanuts, dried shrimps, lime & chillies on betel leaves) alongside mainstream satays, soups, salads, curries & stir-fries. A specialist Thai pastry chef will be on hand to create some unusual regional desserts, too. Imbibers can chill in the swanky lounge bar, where ‘healthy drinks’ & cocktails are dispensed against a contemporary backdrop of hanging light installations, flashes of pink & muted grey tones...
