Cole "in talks" with Cowell about future

Simon Cowell's friend Sinitta has claimed that the 'X Factor' boss is "in talks" with Cheryl Cole about her future following reports that she will not be working as a judge on the US version of the show.

Sinitta told the ITV1 show Daybreak: "There is something going on.

"All I can say is Simon and Cheryl are very close and I believe that they are in talks trying to sort something out and as soon as they agree on something then we'll hear about it."

TV bosses in the UK reportedly want Cole to return to the British version of the show, which is due to begin filming auditions on Wednesday.

It has been reported that Cole is "shocked and stunned" that she will not be a judge on the US version of 'The X Factor'.

There were conflicting reports yesterday that Cole had been dropped from the show because of difficulties understanding her accent, and that she had left because she felt homesick.

The Sun quotes a "close pal" of the singer as saying: "She never saw this coming."

The paper's source alleged: "The fact that Simondidn't tell her in person hurt. She never thought he would do that to her."

However, the tabloid also says that Cowell's "camp" has insisted he told Cole three days ago that her role as judge "wasn't working".
